An Elegant Mind's Handbook
Transforming reaction into response

Elegance is the natural expression of prosperity.  It is who you are before you think about it and decide otherwise.

You were meant to live an elegant life!
In a 10-year span, I experienced a painful divorce as well as the deaths of 15 friends and family members.  I reached a point where I was left asking myself:  Where do I go from here?  Where is the hope in fighting a battle that never seems to end?

That's when I gave up the fight and looked within for direction.

The rebuilding process began with one basic step...becoming friends with the one person who, no matter how high I climbed, or how far I ran, was always with me.  That person was me!

Through the words of the part of me that I call my Constant Traveler, the most honorable, compassionate, and elegant part of me that I can possibly imagine, I found the answers that allowed me to rest, recover, and heal.

An invitation...
The 52 statements in An Elegant Mind's Handbook are the threshold to an open dialogue with your own Constant Traveler.  Allow the most honorable, compassionate, and elegant part of you to be revealed...

Then learn how to love what you see...

In this book, you will discover the benefits of:
  • Living in the gap
  • Cultivating a friendship with your Constant Traveler
  • Embracing an Everything Gently mindset
  • Living with Fearless Faith, Focus, and Fortitude
  • Creating a personal Standard of Excellence
and so much more!

Through simple, effective practices, your Constant Traveler will remind you that elegance is pure living!

Saving Your Own Life
Learning to Live Like You Are Dying

Saving Your Own Life is not about dying...it is about de-energizing the fear we have about dying so we are free to live our best life.  It is about artful, elegant living...saving your precious time for the good stuff...

Change your past?
Have you ever considered how you could not only change your future but also alter your past - from this moment on?  It is a totally refreshing way of looking at life! I explain how...

Excerpt from the Preface:

I have found a way to come to terms with the inevitability of my own death that brings me peace. That, delightfully, is what has saved my life.

“Today is a good day to die, for all the things of my life are present.”

This lovely phrase by the Lakota chief Crazy Horse invited me into an intimate dialogue with myself. It was the beginning of a deeply personal and reflective exercise.

It is a declaration of acceptance and courage: Today could be my last day, so I will make it my best day. With this in mind, every day will be my best day.

Like a fingerprint, what that “best day” looks like for me will be different for you. For some of you, that means living large, boldly going where no you has ever gone before. For some, it means simply putting one foot ahead of the other, finding the courage within you to summon a kind word or two from out of the depths. And for some, simply waking up on this side of the grass is your triumph and what you consider living your best life. It is all good.

Experiencing the passing of a significant number of people I care about has given me a lot of information to process. I have done as much death work as I can, at this point, without actually dying.

I worked through the healing process using the tools and exercises outlined in this contemplative workbook. It is designed to assist in the process of de-energizing many of the subjects that hold fearful, guilty, angry, and/or confused energy for you. These thoughts can hold you captive for your entire lifetime and strip every day of its joy.

However, thoughts can hold you prisoner only if you agree to it. You cannot alter the fact that you will leave this life through death’s door, but you do have the power to change your mind about how you consider your death while you are still among the living.

Saving your own life is a lifelong practice. It puts into perspective the wonderful gift that you have today, as you open your eyes and find another day in which to live and love. I continue to work at de-energizing the challenges of life each day I wake up on this side of the grass...

Today could be my last day, so I will make it my best day…
